General rule of thumb is to get melee 30% Chapter 1 (if you do full map scour get 60%). Chapter 2 - 60% and Chapter 3/4 - 90%. But be aware that with tablets you only need to get up to 60% as they give you 25% and there is a merchant in upper town that sells book for 5k gold that gives 5%. For mana donate to Fire Mage in merchant square 5 times
With Left Mouse + W you do everything, from picking up things, talking to people and fighting a weapon. I recommend you using Left Mouse + W rathern than ctrl + W, the mouse movement is just faster, better. Both are great mods for Gothic 2 but after playing big overhauls I feel the need to go back to the original Gothic 2 NotR. I want most mechanics to be the original ones except for a few quality-of-life improvements, e.g. the ability to sprint or a better inventory system.
